Diving for Falls is the result of three years' collaboration between Julia Felice and Harry Nichols. The duo first set out to record a five song EP in the Spring of 2011. After initial efforts produced lackluster results, and feeling the creative urge, Nichols and Felice decided to expand the track list with another five songs, some of which were the first Felice had ever written. The final set list was crafted intermittently between work on Felice's doctoral thesis and Nichols' work as a full time teacher. Julian Dalton provided drums, which were tracked at Studio Zoot in Cortland, New York with Alex Caminiti at the helm. Final tracking for vocals, pianos, guitars and organs was engineered by Cassie Medcalf at Electric Wilburland Studios in Ithaca, NY. Finally, Steven J. Goldman of Four Legs Records mixed and mastered the raw material into a finished product. The result is a soulful, sexy, dark-rock meditation full of twists, turns, and an array of musical influences. Felice's smokey blue vocals are often compared to Amy Winehouse, and over Nichols' rock and roll leanings, produce a blend that has been described as an "alt-rock Adele."
